Is A Casual Relationship For You? The Pros And Cons Of Being A Man's "Friend With Benefits"

Is it okay to have casual relationships in this day and age? Many couples today decide to start a relationship casually, only becoming more serious about marriage and the future when they've "gotten used" to each other. Does this approach work? The answer might surprise you.

Why Most Couples Start Out Casually

These days, many couples start out in casual relationships. Instead of being boyfriend and girlfriend, they're start out more like "friends with benefits." They do all the things boyfriends and girlfriends do, like dating, cuddling, and having sex, but without the commitment.

Many people think it's a good way to "ease into" a relationship. They're giving the relationship a "test drive," so to speak, before they buckle up for the long haul. And on paper, the approach looks good.

But surprisingly, science says otherwise...

The Dangers Of Cohabitation

Studies have been made about the happiness and satisfaction levels of couples who cohabited (lived together) before getting married. And it seems that the benefits of starting out as "friends with benefits" are lukewarm at best.

Many couples say that they ended up getting married "only because they've lived together for so long." In other words, the marriage came about not because of love, but because of duty. They tend to think, "We've lived together for two years... it's a shame to not see the wedding through."

What This Means For Women Everywhere

Yes, it is a shame, isn't it? Ideally, a marriage is supposed to be happy, fulfilling, and satisfying for the rest of the couple's lives. But today, more and more couples are settling for lukewarm marriages simply because they think it's a shame not to continue a casual relationship.

And as a result, divorce rates among couples who start out with casual relationships are quite high. The level of love and respect between them simply isn't strong enough to sustain the relationship longer than a few years.

So what about you? Would you really want to take that risk? I hope not!

That's why the best relationships start out the old-fashioned way. They don't start out in a casual or sexual way. Instead, the couple goes through that beautiful, time-tested process of dating, courtship, relationship, and marriage.

This process has lasted for centuries. That means it works. Why fix what isn't broken, right?

So my advice: Don't start a relationship until you've gone through the process. If a man truly loves you, he won't rush into the relationship, and instead respectfully go through the motions of proving himself worthy of your love.
